Claude and Claude Desktop can use remote MCP custom connectors on supported plans. Anthropic currently describes the feature as beta and recommends adding only trusted servers and reviewing tool requests. See Anthropic’s custom connector guide.
Add the connector
- In SeatLayer, open Dashboard → Agent connections and copy the Designer MCP URL for the intended environment.
- In Claude, open Settings → Connectors.
- For a managed workspace, switch to Organization connectors if required.
- Select Add custom connector, name it
SeatLayer Designer, and paste the URL. - Add the connector, select Connect, and complete OAuth for the intended workspace and chart.
- Enable only the tools needed for the current conversation.
Do not configure this remote connector through a legacy local
claude_desktop_config.json entry. Anthropic’s current remote-MCP guidance uses
the Connectors settings surface.
First safe prompt
Use the SeatLayer Designer connector.
Call get_capabilities and tell me which chart is authorized.
Summarize the chart and list unresolved review questions.
