Claude and Claude Desktop can use remote MCP custom connectors on supported plans. Once connected, Claude can build and review seating charts and set up events in SeatLayer. It cannot hold, book, or sell seats; see what the Designer MCP covers. Anthropic describes connectors in its custom connector guide.
Before you start
- The person who approves the connection in SeatLayer needs the admin role.
- Decide the scope: one chart, or every chart in one workspace.
- Decide whether Claude may change live events. That permission is off by default.
Add the connector
- In SeatLayer, open Dashboard → Agent connections and copy the server
URL. In production it is
https://mcp.seatlayer.io/mcp. For chat, add?tools=buildto the end:https://mcp.seatlayer.io/mcp?tools=build. Claude then sees the 63 tools for building, editing, pricing, checking and publishing, and each turn carries less than half the tool definitions. Use?tools=build,traceif Claude will trace a floor-plan image. See toolsets. - In Claude, open the Connectors settings. On Team or Enterprise, an Owner adds it under the organization’s connector settings as a custom web connector.
- Choose Add custom connector, name it
SeatLayer, and paste the URL. - Select Connect. Claude opens SeatLayer in your browser.
- Sign in to SeatLayer and review the consent screen:
- pick the workspace;
- choose One chart and select or create it, or choose Every chart in this workspace;
- leave Manage live events off unless Claude should close sections or block seats on events that are already selling.
- Approve. Claude now shows the SeatLayer tools.
- Enable SeatLayer only in the conversations that need it, and keep tool approval on for writes.
Do not configure this remote connector through a legacy local
claude_desktop_config.json entry, and never paste a SeatLayer secret key
into Claude. The connector uses OAuth tokens that expire hourly and refresh
on their own.

Troubleshooting
